I thought I'd share what my daughter scored for me for Christmas
I saw this at a thrift store and mentioned it to her. I did the elbow measure test...I took my arm....measured the depth of the cabinet...came home and placed my fingers against the wall to see if the cabinet passed the elbow test. IT DID! I KNEW she'd probably not go for it....not wanting to get me a gift from a thrift store....but it's what I really wanted! It's a TV cabinet but I wanted it for my computer...I could not STAND looking at all the cords laying around behind my desk.
so now my cords are hidden! I'm going to strip it and paint it white and distress it. I could not wait though. I'm going to throw down drop cloths and paint it right here! My family just gave me "the look". I'm not patient. I had to have everything disassembled and put together on Christmas Morning! Karla had a little bit to do with this though.....my daughter EMAILED her to ask for ideas....Karla gave her some great ones too! (I ended up with a subscription to Romantic Homes!) AND Karla told her about the armoire! So ! Great gift!
Last weekend I was coming home from my moms and noticed a thrift store I'd never seen before. I slammed on the breaks and went in......look what I discovered-
I had to crawl over a 1970's bed on display to get to this in the corner. I think I'll hang it above a set double windows as a cornice.
I also found these trees at Michaels for 70% off! I lit the candles and one almost caught fire....well...I mean one almost caused a fire!
My husband showed me a cool program we had on the computer that I can add all these fun words to my pictures! I promise not to abuse the privilege though.
I also just have to show you his decorating skills. He ALWAYS comes along behind me after I've created a little display...and he tweaks it and makes it his own. It's an ongoing joke around here...he tells me I have to "find" what he fixed. You never know what you'll get. I found his Redskins hat displayed on top of my dress form with my wedding dress one time.
I had to point out all the little things he did! I did think the little pink tree on the mirror with the beads was kinda cute. Maybe he is learning a thing or two from me! I was afraid he'd think I was nuts with that footboard thing. He actually liked it and even commented it was already painted "Robin style"!
Hope you all have a wonderful and safe New Years Eve!
Where's this new thrift store? always looking for good ones. love the foot board.

As fast as you get projects done, I'm guessing the paint is drying on your armoire right now- can't wait to see it.
Love that fancy white board/footboard/cornice- whatever you decide to do with it and call it!

Great find at the Thrift Store. I can't even shop at a non Thrift anymore. It's just WAY too expensive. What's the program you have that let's you add words to your pictures? Love your blog.

Robyn, your post today is so cute with your dh going around and adding his touch. My sister does that to me all year long. LOL.
I love your little pink tree because I have a new passion for pink trees. Ever since I found my pink Christmas tree Johnson Bros. plates I notice pink Christmas trees. silly me.
Happy New year and may 2009 bring you only good things.
Blessings and hugs...Jeanne

Great armoire!! I'm so glad she went to get it for you! And that footboard will make a perfect cornice, can't wait to see a photo of it, with the word discription over it. That is a good trick, I need to learn that. I'd like to be able to point out things in photos like that.

You lucky girl!!! Your computer armoire is beautiful!! I have that furniture in my bedroom and I love it, but mine is as shown. I couldn't bear to strip and paint white. Maybe someday. I can't wait to see how it looks when you are done. I think it's such fun that your hubby "plays" with you like that. That's great!!
