Exciting! There are already 12 of us so far that want to do the Winter Whites fat book project! Won't it be exciting to open that big fat fluffy book full of scrumptious goodies from so many different artists?
Here's a few more details in case you are on the fence about joining.
You don't have to be experienced! If you have a printer, scraps of paper, fabric, trims...a glue stick...then you can do it! You can make all your pages the same....or you can do each one differently....whatever you think is best!
You will get your fat book assembled and mailed back to you. I will alter a hardback book, paint it white of course.......and you can embellish it yourself when it is returned to you. Everyone has different ideas for their own covers so I'll leave that part up to you. It makes it more personal for yourself too. I wish I'd kept a few pages that I'd made for the Valentine fat book...just to remember.....so I'm thinking about including one of your OWN pages back into your fat book before I send it back to you.
The only cost involved would be for the shipping to return the book to you. I'll be using priority shipping...a medium flat rate box is $9.85 I will purchase all the hardbacks at the thrift store and do the altering. You can mail your finished pages to me in a flat bubble envelope with the shipping fee.
Lets get them made and mailed back to me by Halloween weekend.....that gives you four weekends PLUS the five days before Halloween to get them completed and mailed....... I'd like to get them assembled and mailed back out the week of November 9th. I'll be attending SIlver Bella later that week and would like to have everything mailed before I leave.
If anyone else wants to join....I will leave it open until Sunday afternoon. Sunday Night I will email all of you that joined and tell you the exact number of pages you will need to make....(right now it's 12) Most importantly PLEASE include your name and blog address (if you have one) on each of your pages! Nothing is worse than having a beautiful book to look at and have no idea who made the pages! You can just write it on the front of your page....... or print it out on a little strip of paper to be pinned to your page......be creative! You can use any type of card stock to create your page. The backside will not be seen....as I will be gluing it into the fat book. I've used cut up shirt boxes........cereal boxes...anything that has some structure to it will be fine.
You page should be about 8in long x 6in wide. You can embellish them all you want. Stitch, glue, tape, whatever you want. The theme is Winter Whites.....so try to stay in the creme, ivory, white beige color pallet. Your images should blend with the Winter Whites Theme as well......black and whites....soft pastels and sepias will all go nice together.
Here is a link to some free images that you can use in your fat book creativity...
Collage Images from flickr-this is my favorite site! I can spend hours here. If you use someones image leave them a little thank you comment. Please remember to only use the images for your own artwork or fat book. These images are free, but should never be resold as your own images in a CD.
The Graphics Fairy-Karen goes to great lengths to find wonderful vintage images! She re-touches them and offers them to us for free! So generous! I had the pleasure of meeting Karen last May. I walked into her gorgeous booth at Lucketts and didn't know it was her! I had no idea she was practically in my own back yard!
The Vintage Moth is a new blog I've recently found that also offers beautiful free images for you to use in your art.
Heidi at Shabby Chic papirscatter has some beautiful images that I just found tonight!
Mary at Green Paper has beautiful images for free, and some other wonderful ones for sale. I've used the free images from her blog as well as purchased the more special images via download and I was thrilled with the quality!
Art-e-ology-Jamie is just the sweetest blogger and has so many cute images! You will want to read through her entire blog!
If you visit any of these blogs....please leave a quick thank you in the comments and let them know you will be using their beautiful images for this fat book!
This is just a sampling to get you started!
If you think you'd like to join...please send me an email at thrifty underscore miss priss at yahoo dot com before Sunday afternoon!
